Te Naiti Tihema

Ngaati Mahuta

Tooia Tainui tapatuu ki te moana
maa wai e too, maaku e too.
Tiihei mauriora.

Te Kai naa Matariki

MDF, acrylic, native timber

Inspiration for this piece came from the work and research by Dr Rangi Maataamua. “Ko te hautapu e rite ki te kai naa a Matariki” the hautapu is an old ceremony where selected foods are cooked in the ground and placed on a tuahu or platform and are offered to certain stars of the Matariki cluster.
